Lumi opens its virtual doors

Lumi opens its virtual doors to reach parents during a uniquely challenging time.

Lumi is officially open and accepting clients. We have been preparing for many months, but the recent COVID-19 crisis really pushed us to get things rolling. We are here for parents during an unprecedented time.

We know that parents will be in uncharted territory due to COVID-19 for some time. They are facing challenges taking care of children with or without developmental needs, while juggling work and other responsibilities. Depending on a family’s location, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Services can be completely inaccessible, and if a provider is nearby, they likely have a waitlist.

Typical ABA providers rely on one of two models:

-In home services: A Behavior Technician goes into a family’s home for sessions.

-Clinic based services: The family drives their child to a clinic for sessions with a Behavior Technician.

In both scenarios, a high level clinician (a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)) trains the Behavior Technician to follow the child’s treatment plan, and oversees programming and progress. In many cases, parents have minor involvement, and receive little to no training. This is a missed opportunity, as no one has more face time with a child than the parent.

Lumi is quickly accessible online. Parents can quickly book an appointment, meet with a credentialed provider, and receive a personalized plan for their child, all within the span of a few weeks. We provide accessible and affordable ABA services online, with parents at the heart of programming.

How might your child benefit from our services? We focus on building skills where there are deficits, in the areas of communication, play, self-help & daily living skills, social interaction, and more. We also provide guidance on reducing challenging behavior, in a compassionate way.

How do our services work? All of our processes are evidence-based and backed by years of research. We incorporate the same evidence-based assessment tools (such as the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales (VABS), and Functional Assessment Screening Tool (FAST)), that other ABA providers are using, taking a personalized approach for each child. We develop specific and measurable goals that are adapted for both the child and their family. Finally, we work through the plan together, and parents can do so from the convenience of their home.
